Erin Hayward (Kwe Ekoowaandang Beka Minidowaabo) is a Mohawk and mixed European woman, turtle clan, born and raised in Scarborough Ontario, traditionally from Six Nations of the Grand River Territory. Erin is a ceremonial helper and Indigenous Environmental Sciences/Studies Instructor at Fleming College. She currently sits on the Nogojiwanong (Peterborough) Friendship Centre board of directors and is the Chair of the Niijkiwendidaa Anishinaabekwewag Services Circle board of directors, is a philanthropic youth advisor to the Laidlaw Foundation, and recently successfully defended her M.Sc thesis in Environmental and Life Sciences through Trent University. Erin is a passionate advocate for using scientific methodology to further understand Traditional Ecological Knowledge and our relationship to not only ourselves, but to our relatives; the rest of creation.
