NASC Housing Support Program
NASC's Nihdawin and Indigenous Women's Transitional Housing Support Program aims to support Indigenous women and their families, and individuals, that are facing significant risk of episodic and chronic homelessness.
Program Goals
- A housing framework that was developed from the Housing First perspective adapted to meet the needs of Indigenous women and families experiencing homelessness.
- Support women and families facing significant risk of episodic and chronic homelessness by placing them into appropriate housing for their needs and budget.
- Increase the safety of women and their dependents.
- Assist women and their dependents by providing strength-based supports to maximize their capacity to live free of violence.
- Assist and advocate for women and their dependents regarding their health, safety and well-being.
Service Description
(Including but not limited to)
- Intake and SPDAT assessments, goal setting, home visits and follow-up support.
- Housing search and placement support.
- Maintaining housing including eviction and relocation upon eviction.
- Support in developing budget management and skills.
- Support with basic start up.
- Developing Transition and Safety Plans.
- Referrals and Advocacy.
- Support filling out required documentation and applications.
- Support and advocacy with legal processes (Including: legal aid, court attendance).
